This blog is designed to assist students at the College of Applied Science in evaluating the trends in global "political" communication during this election year. Students are exploring the ways in which the two American candidates for president and their vice-presidential running-mates are represented in media in the following countries:
Australia
China
France
Ireland
USA
UK (England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland)
In particular, the focus is on: (1) noting bias in terms of one political party versus another; (2) understanding tendencies to stereotype based on expected party allegiences; and (3) correlations between conservative/liberal countries and media championing of particular candidates.
